About Spain

Whether you want a tranquil break in the countryside, a bustling city adventure, or a sun drenched beach break you will not be disappointed with a James Villas holiday in Spain. Tuck into a bowl of paella packed with flavour in a restaurant overlooking the beach, watch stunning Flamenco dancers in polka dot dresses or sip on some refreshing local sangria in a tapas bar.

Choose from the beautiful white sands of the Costa Blanca, the entertaining towns and lively nightlife of the Costa Del Sol, or the scenic countryside and vast coastline in the Costa Dorada.

If you are partial to a cultural city break, a villa holiday near Barcelona offers the best of both worlds, combining golden beaches with a magnificent city. Alternatively, discover the diverse landscapes and endless beaches of the quintessentially Spanish region of Andalucia.

When to go to Spain

Spain has a Mediterranean climate with fantastic, hot summers. It gets particularly warm in July and August so if you love the sunshine this is the best time to go. Temperatures can reach between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius in August, so make sure you pack your sun cream.

If you want to visit when it’s a bit quieter and cooler, head to Spain in September or October, or between April and May, for a spring break away.

Cultural highlights

Spanish culture conjures up images of flamenco dancers, tapas and amazing beach resorts. However, if you explore this fantastic country you will see it has a lot more to offer. Spain will surprise you with its medieval castles, monuments, intricate architecture and artistic influences.

Explore Andalucia, and follow the Senderos trails to discover stunning examples or Roman and Moorish architecture, which fills the area’s landscape. If you’re looking to explore a city with character, then Barcelona is a good choice. Wander around its breathtaking sites such as La Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, and other examples of Gaudi’s work, which are some of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.
